Birthday Po'tree

It's my birthday today and the coffee just hit me
rational thoughts reach up slowly to grip me
the sun is on fire and it lights up the sky
giving life to us all and we still don't know why

As the thoughts of raw violence dry up like cold spit
from sleeping through hours of nicotine fits
I stretch and I yawn to embrace one more day
as I exhale the smoke and leave ash in the tray

There is hope on the the cusp of reality's dream
it's the color of coffee mixed perfect with cream
yes it's blonde and so full of what I like to taste
and it sits there so patiently right in my face

And the news of the world is a teenage obsession
it spreads like pure gossip with talks of recession
The war, rapes and violence that all of us hear
have always been here, just not all in our ears

It's the telephone game mixed with media snitches
who fan all the flames like a room of drunk bitches
burning the truth like cracked out salem witches
twitching like junkies to scratch their own itches

And what of this hope that I mention quite briefly?
it comes in all shapes, sometimes green sweet and leafy
it makes you all dreamy and full of affection
and most of it lies in your cd collection

To contemplate all that is right and so wrong
to not act in violence and sit with a bong
but to write your synopsis into a great song
and watch people dance while they're singing along

That's a gift that I got from the world I live in
it's like armor I wear in a battle of sin
I aint sayin' I'm perfect, I just don't mess with folks
unless I 'm assured there's a punchline or joke

If you know who I am then you know you can say
I have never put people in front of harms way
I don't think about this or my own reputation
I just smoke and chill out with my daily libation

Defuse the confusion and write the next tune
I watch people live in this earthly cartoon
If that's how you are then I can't say it's wrong
but that's how you'll end up in one of my songs

The truth is so brittle but oh when it ages
it turns into historic facts on the pages
and life aint no war, it can never been won
I know what I'm sayin'...I'm Forty one, son...

Musashi Trio Returns: BIRTHDAY BASH FOR CANCERS

Musashi Trio
July 1st Birthday Bash for Cancers!
Cafe Van Kleef
THURSDAY

1621 Telegraph Avenue
Oakland, CA 94612-2113
(510) 763-7711
9pm

Musashi "Moose" Lethridge, a musician guitar hero of the greater Sf bay area will perform in celebration of not only his birthday( which is July 3rd ), but EVERY SINGLE SOLITARY birthday that happens to fall in the astrological sign of Cancer. That coincidentally means his ENTIRE BAND! This should be a night to remember. Unless you are SO effin drunk you forget. If you decide to stay home, DO NOT TELL US! You might already know that Cancers are SO frikken emotionally sensitive that it may be detrimental to the actual celebration!
But if YOU, yourself are a Cancer....or KNOW A FEW Cancers...tell them to come on down to Van Kleef.
I will ask the bartenders there, personally, to make sure you get the drinks you pay for. And maybe...JUST MAYBE...some generous rich bastard will buy us all a round! And if that happens...even I, a person who doesn't even really like alcohol, will toss back a shot of Sauza Tequilla!

See ya there!

(Now reread this to a friend out loud in a Scottish accent and find out how funny you are)

Lightning Strikes Twice

1-Lightning Strikes Jesus Statue in Ohio

2-Fire Temporarily Interrupts Oil Containment in Gulf ( Oil ship was struck by lightning)

It doesn't take anything less than a miracle of theological comedic genius to restore my faith in things...proof that there is a higher sense of humor up there.

Subsequently...
there will be music coming your way soon.

I guarantee it.

Scientist discovers 2 million year old skull: we are all African Monkeys now...

When ever I walk by a hair or nail salon, I get national geographic flashbacks of the African plains. I remember Miles Perkins from Mutual of Omaha's Wild kingdom telling me about the grooming habits of some exotic breed of monkey. And how natural it is to just sit down next to a friend and pick lice out of their scalp for lunch, or something. I'm not saying that's what goes on at nail salons. And I would never bring this topic up to anyone working there.
"Oh no you did NOT just call me a monkey groomer...! Oh HELL to the NAH! "
That would be drama. But recently a paleoanthropologist found a skull in South Africa that IS indeed the link between man and ape. Which means that this grooming habit has been with us for at least 2 million years, right? And that means that we have monkey habits that have been a part of our DNA for a long time. There have been clues along the way:
George W. Bush was my first clue. I mean...just look at him.
Sarah Palin actually looks and acts like a shaved monkey, too. She's kind of a post groomed ape status continuum for scientific research.
Michael Steele is the epitome of a perfect hybrid breed. Somewhere between monkey and a monkeys asshole. And not the pink puffy one either, just the normal monkey ass type.
In fact most republican politicians these days remind us of our fore fathers, don't they?
Monkeys don't ever demand free healthcare, do they?
Anyway, here is the link to the missing link:

Corey Haim RIP

Boy...it is sad when people die young. And especially sad when their death is posted all over the world.
I remember Corey Haim from the movie "Lucas"
It co starred Winonna Ryder, too.
Anyway, sources say that Corey was going to pursue professional Hockey. Then at an audition with his sister, he became fascinated with acting. And the world of entertainment was blessed with another child star.
And now passes into the next world, leaving behind family, friends and a career.
Here's to you kid...
