Where Did I Sleep Last Night?

Ok it's been a while. You'll have to excuse me for not being here for a few weeks. I have recently become a new member of The English Beat. It's been like a dream so far. Just a couple of weeks, really. But I've already been up and down the coast of California. On a little tour. Getting ready for a bigger one that starts in February. We go on the road with Fishbone across the country. It should be a blast. I mean...how could it not? Dave Wakeling is an amazing musician and a great band leader. He makes touring seem like another day of playing music. I hardly notice I'm working. It's only now that I stop and realize what I've been doing the last couple of weeks. Which is...exactly what I've been wanting to do for my whole life: Tour the world with an awesome band.

And because I've been on the road for the last while, I thought of this song. The lyrics have nothing to do with my story, but the fact that I've been going from one hotel to the next made me think to myself: Where did you sleep last night?

So here's Lead Belly...

Quest For The Ring Is ON! Music2ten (2010)

Hey everybody....the holidays are over. Fucking YAY!!
Time to start with the starters! It's time to bury the hatchet and move on to something that will bring prosperity, hope and MONEY! Yes...I am on the quest finally. I'm after a few specific things. The girl the goldwatch and everything. (And you know what girl I'm talking about if you know me.)
But FIRST...I shall slay the money dragon this year. I have it by the tail now and I'm pissed off at what it did to me the last decade. That Bush dragon needs a black eye...
So with nothing but the wind in my sails and the hilt of my music sword in my hand, I walk. Slowly I turn and realize the work I was doing. I am part of a Web ring. A bunch of genius'. A group of individuals who have been building a music haven for on line participants. Which is ALL of us, really. So...take a browse through our mp3 world.
Remember...all mp3s are free to anyone with enough time to hit the "enter' key. And when you click on the "Next Blog" icon at the top, you will be taken on a virtual tour of all the sites. Each mp3 has a link to a purchase site. This will reboot the music economy. There aint no other way to keep music going in this world of Madoffs and Ponzi schemers. It's time to buy. 99 cents will seem like nothing to you, but it means everything to those of us who slave away everyday for pennies to keep the music ALIVE.

2010 On The Good Foot With Maceo Parker

Here we are in the last week of the first decade of the millennium. We are all looking back and reflecting on things that happened for what ever reasons they did. Some of us are happy. Some us are forlorn. Some of us are apathetic. And some of us are not forgetting what the republican administration actually did to the whole world. And that makes me want to forge a future so bright and amazing that they will never be able to do THAT again. And the only way I have ever known how to do this is with music. The remedy continuum.

So now I am hell bent about bringing music back to the foreground with relentless drive and ambition. It is the only way I know how. So count me in! We are looking at a brand new decade approaching. What better time to inhale a deep breath and begin cultivating with every exhale. Excuse me for having such optimistic relevance, but that is what music does to my soul. It empowers me to do the impossible. Jimi Hendrix called it the power of soul. And that's what it's going to take to get what I want. And those that know me, know what it is that I want and who I want in my life...

With that I will turn you over to Maceo Parker. This song somehow reminds me of the years 2000 to 2008. I have to remember to keep my feet from out of the way of bad politics and economic trampling. Maybe even try and reteach some of these greedy politicians of all parties with the music. Some of them, at least.
This is a good year for self redemption. The best way to show others the path is to walk down it.
