The Black Rock Congress

Author and songwriter Jeffrey Othello (Author of The SOUL OF ROCK'N ROLL: History of African Americans in Rock Music) felt that the next generation of Ethnic Rockers needed a Positive and Professional Base to learn about the music/entertainment business.

His hope is that THE BLACK ROCK CONGRESS will grow into a community of Artists who will continually share their experience, ideas and wisdom world wide.

Quest For The Ring Is ON! Music2ten (2010)

Hey everybody....the holidays are over. Fucking YAY!!
Time to start with the starters! It's time to bury the hatchet and move on to something that will bring prosperity, hope and MONEY! Yes...I am on the quest finally. I'm after a few specific things. The girl the goldwatch and everything. (And you know what girl I'm talking about if you know me.)
But FIRST...I shall slay the money dragon this year. I have it by the tail now and I'm pissed off at what it did to me the last decade. That Bush dragon needs a black eye...
So with nothing but the wind in my sails and the hilt of my music sword in my hand, I walk. Slowly I turn and realize the work I was doing. I am part of a Web ring. A bunch of genius'. A group of individuals who have been building a music haven for on line participants. Which is ALL of us, really. So...take a browse through our mp3 world.
Remember...all mp3s are free to anyone with enough time to hit the "enter' key. And when you click on the "Next Blog" icon at the top, you will be taken on a virtual tour of all the sites. Each mp3 has a link to a purchase site. This will reboot the music economy. There aint no other way to keep music going in this world of Madoffs and Ponzi schemers. It's time to buy. 99 cents will seem like nothing to you, but it means everything to those of us who slave away everyday for pennies to keep the music ALIVE.

What The Music Industry Is Over Looking

The Music Industry doesn't have time to listen to all of music.
Main industry music search will always miss out on some choice bands while they try to crunch out numbers with pop music. With more music websites available, there are a variety of searches now. As an artist, I have over twenty five years of experience writing, playing and enjoying music. Watching trends occur in the pop music world is like watching the moon chase the tides. You never really know who will be the next pop millionaire.
But one thing I am certain of, is that some really good bands just simply get over looked. Aiding this particular search is what sites like Open Source Music is all about. And that is artist/band friendly. Radio used to be the filter. Now it's in the hands of the people on line, too. Free downloads are an essential key, now, to discovering that next great sound.

And when any good band gets discovered, they are given the chance and opportunity to go out there and make people happy. Which, I hear, is greatly appreciated during these economic hard times. That is why OSM is yet another great music website in my book. And when people discover music they like, they usually buy it. I don't believe in the pirate music curse, that much.
These facts seem to be speaking for themselves more and more.

Sex Drugs and Blog n' Purge: TMSD-O9 virus found in airwaves!

I like sex. Don't you? It's got nothing to do with this article. Just making the title seem poetic...

Anyway,
I'm a blogger. Some days when I am lazy, I find articles that were already written and published, I copy and paste them here and do not expect anything in return. Here is an example:

Cocaine traces found on 95% of banknotes from Washington

Scientists have found traces of cocaine in 95% of banknotes collected in Washington, the American Chemical Society reports, and 90% from large cities such as Baltimore, Boston and Detroit. The lowest average was found on bills collected from Salt Lake City. The findings were presented at the 238th National Meeting of the ACS, which says the study suggests "cocaine abuse is still widespread and… » Full Story on USATODAY.com

See? I didn't write that article. I haven't even read it. Someone else wrote it and got payed for it. I'm just sampling...and making the title poetic and upping my google ranking by using popular keywords...like booty, sex and cocaine!

It reminds me so much of the music industry. Within the last 10-15 years, technology has enabled people to "sample" other peoples music and Frankenstein it in to their"own" creation.
We songwriters had to sit back and just watch the feeding frenzy begin. Now it's normal. It's pretty much expected. If you are in the R and B or Hip Hop genre, I'm willing to bet that that 75 percent of your art, craft, talent, or whatever you define it as, is based on computer skills. I'm only judging this by what I hear on the radio these days. This has produced art, yes. But it has wandered so far off the music path that people are starting to vomit.
It's true....
The other day I was in traffic and I was next to a Prius on the freeway. I was bored so I rolled down my window and asked the lady in the Prius what she was listening to. She said she wasn't, paused, shrugged and turned on the radio. Within 15 seconds her entire dashboard was covered in steamy mucas vomit bile. I almost puked myself. Then a miraculous thing happened. The guy in the car behind me puked in his car. Then the car in front of me. Then it just dominoed down the freeway. Cal Trams had to intervene for the biggest clean up I'd ever seen. It was sick and gross. I was sure it was the apocalpyse. But it wasn't. We found out later from a Cal Trams spokes man that a virus had been traced in the 26 bit sampling found in the songs that were on the air. An audio virus called TMSD-09 was the culprit. A U.C. professor said,
" If real music isn't brought back soon...with real instruments...and real talented artists...I'm afraid to say what the consequences will be...don't be surprised if you hear about this on NPR...we all know how real things become once they are on NPR...it's time to refocus, people...think of the children..." He paused dramatically and then screamed,"Watch Soylent Green!" And then he vanished into thin air...
If you believe this story then you must be one of these culprits!
It's time to refocus.
I am also a musician...time to save the world again...
Here is a song called "Happiness"
all sounds were made by me. One real track at a time...
