Slow Grind

It is an era of hyper-instant-gratification. Technology has erased all my friends phone numbers from my head. WTF? I used to know them by heart. In fact, my friends use to ask me for their numbers when they were drunk. Now...it's different. Everything has sped up. Language is getting chopped into acronyms because we are too lazy to spell. I remember rotary phones. And I could probably send out 3 texts in the time that it takes the rotary dial to duh, duh, duh, duh, duh back from the number 9. But have things improved with the speed of technology? The answer is, pardon my french...fuck no they haven't. To quote Louis CK, the comedian, "Everything is amazing and nobody's happy."

So...
If you are like me and prefer quality to quantity, then this song is for you.
Because good things take time. So have patience with your Slow Grind...in this amazing era.
And good luck!

Quest For The Ring Is ON! Music2ten (2010)

Hey everybody....the holidays are over. Fucking YAY!!
Time to start with the starters! It's time to bury the hatchet and move on to something that will bring prosperity, hope and MONEY! Yes...I am on the quest finally. I'm after a few specific things. The girl the goldwatch and everything. (And you know what girl I'm talking about if you know me.)
But FIRST...I shall slay the money dragon this year. I have it by the tail now and I'm pissed off at what it did to me the last decade. That Bush dragon needs a black eye...
So with nothing but the wind in my sails and the hilt of my music sword in my hand, I walk. Slowly I turn and realize the work I was doing. I am part of a Web ring. A bunch of genius'. A group of individuals who have been building a music haven for on line participants. Which is ALL of us, really. So...take a browse through our mp3 world.
Remember...all mp3s are free to anyone with enough time to hit the "enter' key. And when you click on the "Next Blog" icon at the top, you will be taken on a virtual tour of all the sites. Each mp3 has a link to a purchase site. This will reboot the music economy. There aint no other way to keep music going in this world of Madoffs and Ponzi schemers. It's time to buy. 99 cents will seem like nothing to you, but it means everything to those of us who slave away everyday for pennies to keep the music ALIVE.

2010 On The Good Foot With Maceo Parker

Here we are in the last week of the first decade of the millennium. We are all looking back and reflecting on things that happened for what ever reasons they did. Some of us are happy. Some us are forlorn. Some of us are apathetic. And some of us are not forgetting what the republican administration actually did to the whole world. And that makes me want to forge a future so bright and amazing that they will never be able to do THAT again. And the only way I have ever known how to do this is with music. The remedy continuum.

So now I am hell bent about bringing music back to the foreground with relentless drive and ambition. It is the only way I know how. So count me in! We are looking at a brand new decade approaching. What better time to inhale a deep breath and begin cultivating with every exhale. Excuse me for having such optimistic relevance, but that is what music does to my soul. It empowers me to do the impossible. Jimi Hendrix called it the power of soul. And that's what it's going to take to get what I want. And those that know me, know what it is that I want and who I want in my life...

With that I will turn you over to Maceo Parker. This song somehow reminds me of the years 2000 to 2008. I have to remember to keep my feet from out of the way of bad politics and economic trampling. Maybe even try and reteach some of these greedy politicians of all parties with the music. Some of them, at least.
This is a good year for self redemption. The best way to show others the path is to walk down it.

Duke Ellington: Take The A Train With The Yankees

No other band has so singularly possessed more charm and sophistication than Duke Ellington and The Washingtonians. “Choo Choo” always paints my imagination with images of buttoned up musicians riding in the luxury car headed to a gig in The Big Apple. What I wouldn’t give to be riding the rails with that band. Duke and his band remain to this day, the touchstone of class.

And if you are in New York...you can celebrate this feeling with The New York Yankees.
"The New York Yankees bolted from the dugout even before the last grounder was scooped up. After waiting nine years for championship No. 27, no one would dare hold them back..." (Read more)

What The Music Industry Is Over Looking

The Music Industry doesn't have time to listen to all of music.
Main industry music search will always miss out on some choice bands while they try to crunch out numbers with pop music. With more music websites available, there are a variety of searches now. As an artist, I have over twenty five years of experience writing, playing and enjoying music. Watching trends occur in the pop music world is like watching the moon chase the tides. You never really know who will be the next pop millionaire.
But one thing I am certain of, is that some really good bands just simply get over looked. Aiding this particular search is what sites like Open Source Music is all about. And that is artist/band friendly. Radio used to be the filter. Now it's in the hands of the people on line, too. Free downloads are an essential key, now, to discovering that next great sound.

And when any good band gets discovered, they are given the chance and opportunity to go out there and make people happy. Which, I hear, is greatly appreciated during these economic hard times. That is why OSM is yet another great music website in my book. And when people discover music they like, they usually buy it. I don't believe in the pirate music curse, that much.
These facts seem to be speaking for themselves more and more.

From Slavery To Noble Peace Award

I just want to take a deep breath and soak this in...
We've gone from slavery in America...

Gus Cannon – “Poor Boy A Long Way From Home” mp3

Gus Cannon’s story starts off the same way many other poor black aspiring musicians’ stories started off. At the turn of the century in the South, you had to escape the servitude of the share cropping system to pursue your dreams. Slaves ran away from their families and headed out on the road with little more than youthful optimism as their driving force. This mp3 is a tribute to all the revolutionary musicians of that time who refused to let their dismal socioeconomic status destroy their goal of enjoying a career playing music.

It's a Mog Mog Mog world of music!

Music fans/artists/publishers and even nekkid college chicks are enjoying themselves at Mog.com! ( I have no idea who that girl is...ask deadmandeadman at Mog! )
Music+Blog=Mog. Got it?
Cool... I work and post music for Mp3 4U, which is really cool, but I have to admit...Mog kicks some major booty for on line music enjoyment!! They have the most amazing library of tunes from frikken EVERYBODY and their grand ma. After downloading the mogomatic player to your computer, you can browse and go bubba bubba buck wiley on some tunes. From Billy Joel to Prince to Fishbone to Carly Simon to Paul Simon to The Fugees and hella other artists from all over the world wide web. And then say what ever you wanna say about it in a blog. It's INSANE, the variety of tunes you can find at Mog.com!
They have recently expanded into a bigger site, too. Which is a good sign. In this economic crisis, it's impressive to see any site growing... So...I aint sayin' you need to join or anything...I'm sayin' that I have and it was worth posting this blog about mog!
